Settings

Step 1 :
Go to option menu and choose "Settings" (1).
Step 2 :
If you want MagicFiles to automatically create save directories if not found, click on the "Create automatically" box (2).
Step 3 :
If you want MagicFiles to automatically replace an existing file with a received file that has the same name, click on the "Replace automatically" box (3).
Step 4 :
If you want MagicFiles to automatically rename a received file that has the same name as an existing file, click on the "Rename automatically" box (4).
Step 5 :
Enable the "Set MagicFiles as default app" option (5) to instruct MagicFiles to set itself as the default application to receive all active extensions. This option is useful if you have other applications installed on your device that can receive the active extensions defined in MagicFiles and you want MagicFiles to be the appointed receiver.
Step 6 :
After enabling the "Set MagicFiles as default app", a new "Re-set on startup" option (6) will appear. If enabled, this option will instruct MagicFiles to automatically re-set itself as the default application to receive all active extensions when it starts up. This feature is useful if there are other applications on your device that overrides MagicFiles as the default application whenever they are used. With this option set, you can be sure MagicFiles is the default application for the active extensions just by launching MagicFiles and exiting it straight after it is loaded.
Step 7 :
To make the save folders you defined for the extensions effective for files installed onto your device via Hotsync as well, enable the "Apply save folders to Hotsync" option (7). This feature will be enabled for all new extensions that you define. If you want it to be applied to the previously defined extensions, select a newly added "Re-set all Hotsync folder" option in the action list on MagicFile's main screen (bottom left of the screen). To remove the save folders defined for Hotsync, choose the "Remove all Hotsync save folder" option on the same action list. Note: Changing the Hotsync default save folder is not reversible because MagicFiles do not backup the original save folders.
Step 8 :
Click on the "Done" button when you've finished your selection.
Tip :
If you have chosen a directory that has a lot of files to save files into, selecting "Replace automatically" will speed up the file reception process. This is because MagicFiles needs to search the whole directory for any same named existing files if you choose "Rename automatically". The same applies for directories; Choose "Create automatically" to speed up the receiving process.

Frequently Asked Question
Q: What is the maximum size of the files I can receive through MagicFiles?
A: The size of files that you can receive is dependant on the available RAM of your device. When a file is received via bluetooth or IR, it is first stored temporarily in the device's main RAM before the Operating System hands them over to MagicFiles. Therefore, the size of the file must be less than the available RAM of the device.
Is the extensions that I key in case sensitive?
A: No, the extensions are not case sensitive. For example if you add a ".tst" extension, MagicFiles will receive any files with ".tst", ".Tst", ".TST", etc..
